Perception of new religious movements by the religious organizations of the Republic of Belarus

In sociology of religion, there are few works on the quantitative analysis reactions main social institutions to phenomenon religiosity. Social representations and illusions about non-traditional religiosity formed within boundaries many unrelated uncoordinated representatives each institution. The logic choosing object among existing religious organizations reflects both specifics institution external influences, i.e., context. article aims at identifying institutional traditional religions based perception new movements by Orthodox Catholic churches in Republic Belarus 1992-2020. content was used analyze 715 books, articles media, leaflets, proceeding conferences other publications religions. author argues that 407 groups were identified, their configuration selective attention confessions religions; presents distribution according structural characteristics, recursiveness frequency mentions, status authors hierarchy churches, influence foreign reprinted Belarusian media. identifies as criticism from standpoint own dogma; moreover, features past contemporary life Christian make them primarily respond intra-church sectarianism, pseudoChristian groups, then neo-paganism magic, divination healing, Satanism occult-mystical groups. mentions internal factors determining churches’ a non-typical form, range variability antisectarian discourse churches.
